I’ve been walking through an artistic limbo for the past few months, and recently I feel like I am gaining more clarity about what intentions I want to put into my work.
Currently I’m working on a new series of animated artworks, where I focus on texture, sounds, feelings. It’s been very soothing for me to concentrate on a new facet of my creativity instead of just outputting what I believe people expect. So, no type involved. No illustrations either. I’m looking for something more abstract, where personal interpretation takes a central place.
We’re currently at a production stage where I make things as I feel them, very intuitively, yet I want to publish this new work structured, to compose an Entity like you would compose a book or a movie, with chapters, contrasts, surprises.
Chaos organized.
I still feel the urge to share things as I make them, so while it’s still at the embryo stage I want to share a few stills to a smaller and trusted audience (that’s you).
These are made entirely in After Effects, using some footage I shot while walking in the woods — for now. Peaceful moments, mirrored, compressed, and fried into a catalyst for my anxieties. Breathing in, breathing in, sometimes breathing out.
Type updates
I’m taking it slower with type design at the moment, however, this is where I’m at.
Selenite has been launched in December last year and you can purchase a license or try it out for free here if you haven’t already:
Peste Condensed is getting in good shape. I’ve been doing some structural changes to make the whole glyph-set more consistent, and I’m currently playing with a sleeker, more minimal version to implement as a secondary stylistic set.
I love how this thornless option gives room for more use-cases while remaining sharp. A tiny bit more classic, I can’t wait to see both sets in use.
Still no release date planned, however I can send a beta version if anyone wants to play with it :)
Thank you for reading me and see you next time!
